The 1ST International Conference

 on

Dante and the Arab World: 700 Years Later

23rd - 24th, October 2021

INTRODUCTION:

To mark the 700th  anniversary of Dante’s death, the Italian Department at Badr University in Cairo and the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo are organizing a two-day interdisciplinary conference that will take place at the University of Badr in Cairo. Dante’s relationship with the Arab world—both past and present—is a rich one, that has only recently started to attract due attention especially after Asin Palacios in his comparative study illustrates how Dante was influenced by the Eastern sources. By bringing together scholars who are interested in Dante and his works, the conference will focus on Dante’s reception in the Arab World and in world literature, to name but a few salient topics.
